The TBI Center offers a variety of services (e.g., Service Coordination, Day Habilitation, Residential Habilitation) for children with developmental disabilities, including Traumatic Brain Injury, under the Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities (OMRDD). Also included in this division are services for adults whose developmental disability had been identified or just recently recognized. A variety of services are also offered for adults with an acquired brain injury due to vehicular accident, stroke, seizure disorder, encephalitis or other central nervous system disorder (exclusion: degenerative disorders such as Huntington’s Chorea, Alzheimer’s Disease) that was acquired after birth.

xxxxxFunding for these services is available through the Department of Health (DOH) TBI Medicaid Waiver. Eligible clients are offered Service Coordination, Independent Living Skills Training, Structured Day Program, Alternative Day Program (i.e. day program without walls), Home and Community Support Services, and Community Integration Counseling. Clients are also offered Cognitive Remediation for deficits in attention, planning, and response inhibition. Cognitive remediation also includes memory training and learning compensatory strategies to capitalize on areas of strength.
