Name of Organization: Adirondack Community Action Programs, Inc. (ACAP)

Organizations Mission: Is to promote personal development, healthy interdependence and improved quality of life.

Members Service Activities:
ACAP seeks
a part-time AmeriCorps member with knowledge and an interest in Early Child Care/ Development to help build the capacity of its Afterschool Program(s). The AmeriCorps member will work at one of ACAP's (6) Afterschool Programs, which are located in the following school districts (Crown Point, Elizabethtown/Lewis, Westport, Willsboro, Moriah, and Schroon Lake). The key responsibilities of ACAP's AmeriCorps member will be to assist the Site Supervisor and Group Leaders in helping children with homework, and conducting educational/ learning activities including but not limited to playing games, providing nutritional and educational activities addressing childhood obesity, and promoting physical activities. Additionally, the AmeriCorps member will conduct arts and crafts projects, read stories and assist with ACAP's Character Education Program. For more information about ACAP, visit acapinc.org

Organizations Mission: In the hopes and dreams of parents we find our work--
offering a hand in partnership to families who have children with emotional or behavioral challenges-that self-doubt give way to uncovered strengths, Despair be replaced with hope, and the once-diminishing dreams for their children's success will blossom anew.

Members Service Activities:
Families First in Essex County, seeks
two part-time AmeriCorps member(s) with experience in the human service field, especially with children who have special needs to build its capacity to teach youth and parents to be more self-sustaining. The key responsibilities of Families First in Essex Counties' AmeriCorps member(s) will be assisting program staff with developing and implementing groups that focus on self-esteem, social skills development and encouraging physical activity and healthy eating habits. Additionally, the member(s) will work to increase awareness of mental health services throughout Essex County by developing and implementing an outreach campaign that will focus on medical providers, service agencies and residents.
